Handstands are AWESOME.
Handstands are HARD.
A solid, 30 second free-standing press handstand doesn't happen overnight. You have to commit to a disciplined, long-term approach. There are many details involved, and it is important to be aware of all the pieces and how they combine to form a successful handstand:
- Weight transferring
- Intercostal muscle contraction
- Position of the feet
- Shoulder placement
- Finger placement
Pulling from both yoga and gymnastics, we will review some of the basic principles and variations of the handstand.
We will go over progressions, technique, dismounts and the beginnings of a press handstand.
This will be an INTERMEDIATE level workshop. You should be comfortable in a handstand position against the wall and want to learn how to kick up in the MIDDLE OF THE ROOM!
